WKV Turgo Turbine

WKV's Turgo turbines are ideally suited for applications in the limit range between Francis and Pelton turbines. They are used primarily for application with medium to high heads ranging from 30 m to 300 m. Like a Pelton, a Turgo turbine has a flat efficiency curve and provides excellent efficiencies at partial load. The design is based on WKV's own improved technology developed and optimized in its own test laboratories. |
| As an impulse turbine it is less sensitive to arenaceous water and high debris content. So far, it is the preferred type for applications with highly variable flows and water with significant contamination. In terms of the specific speed the Turgo turbine is allocated between the Francis and the Pelton turbine. It is well suited for applications where a multi-jet Pelton or a low-speed Francis turbine might normally be used. Furthermore, the jet deflectors provide outstanding dynamic performance, even with rather long penstocks. WKV's standard line of Turgo turbines is available with 1 or 2 nozzles and a capacity up to 5000 kW. |
